The Legacy of Mars, a new campaign expansion for Stronghold Games' hit engine-builder, has rocketed to almost $2 million (around £1.5 million) on Gamefound from more than 8,000 backers, and there are only days left to pledge before it closes on 30 May 2026.

Billed as a fully replayable campaign, The Legacy of Mars carries terraforming beyond the red planet and out across the solar system. Unusually for a legacy game, you do not wreck the components as you play, so once you have finished the story you can reset the box and run it all again. For a game system this beloved, that is a tempting proposition.
