Everdell Bellfaire Expansion Lands in the Digital Game

If you have been chipping away at the digital version of Everdell on your phone or PC, your woodland city just got a lot more to do. Dire Wolf has added the Bellfaire expansion to digital Everdell, with the new content live on Steam and mobile from Thursday 14 May. A Nintendo Switch release is set to follow.

Everdell, for anyone who has somehow missed it, is the cosy worker-placement and card game where you play woodland critters building a city across four seasons, gathering resources, raising constructions and recruiting a tableau of helpful animals. The board game, designed by James A. Wilson and illustrated by Andrew Bosley, became a modern classic largely on the strength of that warm, storybook presentation. Dire Wolf's digital adaptation brought it to Steam, iOS, Android and Switch, with solo challenges, AI opponents and cross-platform multiplayer.

Bellfaire is the expansion that lets you tune the game to taste. It is built as six modules you can toggle on or off independently, so no two setups need play the same. Player Powers deal each player a choice of unique abilities tied to different critters. A new Market location adds a spot for trading and resource management. There are four extra Forest Locations, a batch of new Special Events, and the Flower Festival with its Garland Awards for end-game scoring. All of it slots in alongside Glimmergold, an expansion Dire Wolf had already added to the digital game, so you can stack the two for some genuinely sprawling games.

For solo players, Bellfaire also adds a fresh set of Challenges to work through.

Digital Everdell has always been a tidy way to learn the game before committing to the (rather lovely) physical box. With Bellfaire in, it is also a good nudge to get the critters back on the table. Fancy the real thing? Round up your group and find a game night near you.
