Jimothy is a wild raccoon in Seattle whose short spine gives him a distinctly round silhouette, and after being filmed and shared online he has become one of the internet's favourite animals. Two of the biggest names in tabletop roleplaying have now made him official, one day apart.

See how it worksPaizo went first. On Monday, community and social media specialist Maya Coleman posted a Jimothy companion stat block written by designer Jason Keeley, opening with "Through much coaxing and patience, you are blessed with the aid of Jimothy, the creature of legend."
Mechanically he is a Small companion who stays Small no matter how far he advances, with a finesse jaws attack, scent, low-light vision and four hit points. His advanced manoeuvre, Tumbling Swipe, lets him stride and try to pickpocket an enemy. But the support benefit is the sweetest bit of design in the whole thing: stop and look at him, and you or an ally within 30 feet get a +2 circumstance bonus on saves against emotion effects.

Set up your group for freeWizards followed the next day with Jimothy, Beloved Cryptid on D&D Beyond, a CR 1/4 tiny beast with 17 hit points, a Nibble melee attack, a ranged Hurl Garbage attack that leaves the target stinky, and a Compact Frame trait letting him move through a space as narrow as four inches. He also gets Captivate, a DC 12 Wisdom save that charms anyone within 15 feet. As Wargamer notes, Wizards commissioned original artwork for him too.
There is a genuinely nice thing buried in this. Two rules systems that spend most of their time being compared against each other both looked at a chubby raccoon and independently decided the correct mechanical translation was "makes everyone around him feel better." That is a rare bit of agreement.
Both stat blocks are free to read, so there is nothing stopping you dropping him into Friday's session as the strangest hireling your party has ever recruited.
