Chicken Fried Dice, a fast-paced food truck roll-and-write for one to five chefs, wraps up its Kickstarter on Friday 24 April. Designers Ashwin Kamath and Rob Newton, with publisher Urban Professional Games, have you running your own food truck at a festival, serving dishes to hungry (and increasingly hangry) customers before they stomp off.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksThe game uses what Kamath calls "dice chucking and plucking". You roll dice, pluck ingredients, and use them to fulfil customer orders. Each food truck is a double-layer board with different stations, and you can upgrade those stations with dry-erase tiles mid-game, which changes how each station actually works. Every unique customer contributes a review score and a bonus action when fed, so mopping up the queue pays off twice.
Pledges start at $49 for a standard copy of the game. An $89 "all-in" tier adds fancier dice, a custom playmat, a wooden dice coop, and a mini-expansion with more customer cards. The pitch is aimed squarely at the roll-and-write crowd who have worn Railroad Ink or Three Sisters into the table and fancy something with more theme and table presence.
