Artifox Is a Two-Player Fox Art-Heist Card Game

Two foxes, one gallery full of priceless (and slightly ridiculous) art, and only one of you walking away as the city's top crime lord. Artifox is a two-player card game about robbing an art gallery, and it lands on Gamefound this week.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

It is the debut from small studio Octo Push, and the pitch is pure mischief. You explore three districts, the market, the artisan quarter and the noble district, building a hand of cards before raiding Silverfang Manor for its treasures, according to Wargamer. The art you are pinching is a set of fox parodies of real masterpieces, including "The Squeal," a lupine take on Munch's The Scream. A "guards" mechanic can lock a deck away from both players, and a catch-up system means racing into an early lead just paints a target on your back for the other thief.

Highly interactive two-player games, the mean and quick kind, are having a real moment, and Artifox is chasing the same table space as clever duels like Air, Land & Sea. Octo Push describes it on its Gamefound page as a game "full of tricks and traps," and the animal-heist art is exactly the sort of thing that gets passed around a group chat.

Prices, play time and stretch goals were not public before launch, so the campaign is worth a look once it opens on 7 July. If two-player night is a fixture for you, this is one to watch. Find someone to play with while you wait.
