Aeldari Exodites Get Their First Miniatures in Kill Team

After decades stuck in the lore and nowhere on the tabletop, the Aeldari Exodites are finally getting models. Games Workshop's Big Summer Preview revealed the dragon-riding space elves as a new boxed set for Kill Team, the company's small-scale skirmish game of a few models a side rather than a full army, and for long-suffering Aeldari fans this is the reveal of the show.

A quick refresher for the uninitiated: the Exodites are the Aeldari who saw the Fall coming and fled through the Webway before their civilisation collapsed, settling wild maiden worlds and riding great dragon-like beasts called drakesteeds. They have been name-checked in Warhammer 40,000 fiction for years without a single official miniature to their name, so seeing them sculpted at last is a genuine event.

The box gives you a squad of Exodite Dragon Masters, which build as one of three roles: Clanblades who wade into close combat, Stonesingers who throw out psychic powers, and Leystalkers who provide the ranged firepower, alongside smaller Drakolithe beasts. Facing them is a warband of Ork Beast Snagga Boyz and Squighog Boyz who have crashed the party to hunt big game. There is a lore dossier and 20 branching Joint Ops missions to play through, and the Dragon Masters can also be built as lance-armed Dragon Knights with full rules for Warhammer 40,000, so this is a foothold for the army rather than a one-box curiosity.

Games Workshop says pre-orders are coming soon, though no firm date has been set. If you have been waiting years for lizard-riding Aeldari, the wait is nearly over.
