Everdell Emerland Takes the Cosy City-Builder Into the Jungle

Everdell is heading somewhere new. Tabletop Tycoon has revealed Everdell Emerland, a fresh standalone game that takes the much-loved worker-placement series out of its woodland valley and deep into the jungle.

If you have somehow missed it, Everdell is the 2018 game from designer James Wilson where forest critters build a sprawling city across four seasons, gathering resources, recruiting characters and raising buildings. It became a genuine hobby phenomenon on the strength of its gorgeous art and chunky components, picking up best-of-2018 nods from Smithsonian and Paste and a Golden Geek nomination for its artwork. A long run of expansions and spin-offs followed, and the cosy, accessible engine-building has kept it near the top of plenty of collections.

Emerland is billed as the third standalone entry in Everdell's Edge of the Map series, following Farshore and Silverfrost. It keeps the familiar city-building rhythm but drops your jungle critters into vibrant new territory, exploring untouched realms and unearthing ancient artefacts from 3D ruins that sit on the board. The headline new twist is double-sided cards you can upgrade mid-game, swapping a card for extra points, more resources or a punchier combo. It plays one to four, takes around an hour or more, suits ages 10 and up, and works as a complete game in its own right, no original Everdell required.

Emerland is due in July 2026 at around 50 dollars. For anyone who bounced off heavier games it looks like a gentle on-ramp into worker placement, as well as fresh territory for long-time fans.

New to Everdell or coming back for more? It is a lovely one to teach, so round up your group for a game night once it lands.
