Wayland's Parent Buys Battle Foam, the Miniatures Storage Giant

If you carry a painted army to game night in Battle Foam trays, take note: the miniatures-storage stalwart has a new owner. Wyld Holdings, the group behind UK retail giant Wayland Games, has bought Battle Foam, the Arizona firm whose custom-cut foam cases have protected painted miniatures collections for years.

The deal, announced on 2 July, adds Battle Foam to a growing British-owned portfolio that already includes miniatures publisher Warcradle Studios, Occam Distribution, gaming-mat maker Kraken Wargames and the media outlet OnTableTop. Founder Romeo Filip and the core team are staying put, and the brand keeps its name, but it now plugs into Wyld's logistics and distribution network.

For gamers, the interesting bit is what it signals. Wyld chief executive Richard Lawford framed the approach as "empowering them to play at a larger scale" rather than swallowing brands whole, while Filip called joining "a massive milestone" that lets the team "scale thoughtfully without losing our roots." In plain terms, that should mean Battle Foam's kit becomes easier and quicker to get hold of on this side of the Atlantic, where imported foam cases have long carried a shipping premium.

It is another step in a quietly ambitious run of acquisitions from a UK company assembling its own end-to-end tabletop operation, from manufacturing to the shop counter. If you have been eyeing a custom case for your growing pile of minis, wider distribution can only help.
