UK Games Expo has its 2027 dates up, and if you organise anything for a gaming group, this is the one to get into the calendar early. The show runs Friday 4 to Sunday 6 June 2027 at the NEC Birmingham, returning to five halls of the venue plus the Hilton Hotel next door.

Set up your group for freeThat will be the 21st year of what UKGE bills as the largest hobby games convention in the UK. Five halls is a lot of floor to cover in a weekend, which is why the opening hours matter more than people expect. Friday and Saturday both run from 9am to midnight, and Sunday closes at 4pm. Two of the three days keep going for fifteen hours, so pacing yourself is a real strategy rather than a joke.
Ten months of notice sounds generous until you remember the NEC is involved. Rooms near the site get booked out by events all year round and prices tend to climb as dates approach, so groups that sort accommodation early usually end up within walking distance instead of driving in and out each morning.

Find events near youThe other thing worth sorting early is who is actually coming. That is the bit that quietly kills more convention trips than cost ever does. A weekend that size is fine on your own and considerably better with four or five people comparing notes over lunch and splitting up to cover more ground.
