According to Wargamer, the full-colour rulebook went live on 2 June, just hours after Games Workshop dropped the rules for Warhammer 40,000's new 11th edition. Cheeky counter-programming or coincidence, it gives curious wargamers a no-risk way to see how StarCraft plays before committing to any models.
It is a generous document. Wargamer notes it runs longer than 40K's rulebook, but that is down to extra material rather than bloat: an illustrated battle report, 14 pages of unit points costs and 13 pages of map layouts to get tables looking the part. Licensed from Blizzard, the game brings all three iconic factions to the tabletop and bills itself as the first official StarCraft release in years.

See how it worksThere is one catch. The miniatures themselves are still rolling out, with early stock so far limited to Archon's convention appearances. The rules being free, though, means you can learn the game now and be ready when the models reach wider release.
