Pokemon Apologises for Golisopod's Misprinted Chaos Rising Card

The Pokemon Company has posted a notice on the official Pokemon Card site apologising for a printing error on the Golisopod card from Chaos Rising, a Pokemon TCG expansion that reached shops this spring. The slip is small and easy to miss: the artwork shows three lines across the creature's armoured torso where there should only be two. Everything else, from the stats to the attacks, is exactly as intended.

Crucially, this is not one for the bin. The notice confirms the affected cards play perfectly normally and stay legal in official tournaments, so there is no scramble to swap your deck list around before the next league night. The company says it has corrected the art for future print runs and pledged to tighten its quality checks, though it is not running a replacement programme for cards already out in the wild.

Chaos Rising landed in Japan on 13 March and reached the rest of us on 22 May, so plenty of these have already been pulled, sleeved and played. Misprints like this tend to take on a life of their own among collectors, where a known error variant can quietly become the more sought-after version of a card.

For now it is a fun bit of trivia for your shelf. If you want to compare notes with other collectors, round up a local group and go hunting through your binders.
