Magic: The Gathering is heading to the final frontier. Wizards of the Coast has revealed the first details of Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek, a full crossover set that puts Starfleet, the Klingons and the Borg onto Magic cards, and it warps into shops on 13 November 2026.

Start organising for freeThe headline for most players is four ready-to-play Commander decks, built for Magic's most popular multiplayer format. One is a classic-era Landing Party, another commands a Federation fleet of starships, a third goes to war as the Klingons, and the fourth lets you play the Borg, assimilating your opponents' creatures one at a time. If you would rather crack packs, there are the usual Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, plus a Beginner Box for anyone Star Trek might finally tempt into Magic.
The set leans hard into its source material. A new mechanic called Assimilate hands you control of an enemy creature and rebuilds it as a Borg drone with a +1/+1 counter. Another, Face a Dilemma, rewards you for the kind of hard modal choices the show loves, the tabletop equivalent of setting phasers to stun or kill. A third, Federation, cares about how many different creature types you have in play, a neat nod to strength through diversity. The starship-crewing Spacecraft mechanic from an earlier set returns as well.
