Remember pogs? Roxley does. The studio behind the hit dice-combat duel Dice Throne has turned its roster of heroes into Slam Throne, a gleefully silly two-player dexterity game that swaps dice for cap-slamming, and it is making its way to shops this quarter.

Find events near youWhere Dice Throne has you roll fistfuls of dice to power up asymmetric fighters and pummel an opponent, Slam Throne strips all that back to playground physics. You stack your rival's health caps in front of you, then take turns hurling a "Hero Slammer" to flip them. Every cap that flips counts as damage, and the first player to knock the other down to zero wins. A round takes roughly five to ten minutes, which makes it the kind of daft filler you can squeeze between heavier games or run as a knockout side-tournament. Per Meeple Mountain, it is credited to the Dice Throne team of Aaron Hein, Gavan Brown, Manny Trembley and Nate Chatellier.
Slam Throne first turned up at Gen Con 2025 and has been touring conventions before its wider retail release this quarter. If you already have a Dice Throne crowd it is an easy add to game night, and it plays fine even if nobody at the table has touched the original. Find a group to slam against and your next tournament sorts itself out.
