Mindclash Games has a reputation for big, brain-melting boxes like Anachrony, Trickerion and the notoriously heavy 4X Voidfall. Revenant is its return to that same sci-fi universe, but pitched as a gentler way in. This is a standalone competitive worker-placement game of shifting allegiances, and it comfortably smashed its crowdfunding target.

Start organising for freeThe setup leans into Voidfall's lore. After a cosmic entity consumes the galactic empire in the cataclysm known as the Voidfall, the surviving admirals retrofit an old imperial flagship, the Revenant, to carry humanity's accumulated knowledge out of the ruins. You and up to three rivals play those admirals, coordinating the defence of a fleeing starfleet while quietly competing for influence with the factions likely to outlast the journey. Across four rounds you assign crew to ships tied to the Great Houses, and every placement builds standing with that House while you fight the Voidborn, scout planets and upgrade your fleet. Allan Kirkeby designed it, with art by Voidfall illustrator Ian O'Toole, for 1 to 4 players across 90 to 120 minutes.
On Kickstarter the game raised €632,471 from 5,451 backers, roughly 843% of its modest €75,000 goal, according to Kicktraq. It is due to reach backers and retail through 2026, with a debut expected at Gen Con. If you are heading to the show, see who else is going.
