If you like your strategy games big, mean and dripping with table talk, keep an eye on Politik, the debut from newcomer Black Yeti Games now live on Gamefound. It drops two to six players into a collapsed near-future world where rival nations claw for military, corporate and political control.

Set up your group for freeThis is unapologetically a heavyweight. A single game can run anywhere from an hour to a marathon five, built on area majority, tableau building and a deck of more than 400 multi-use cards, where every card is a decision about what you give up to get what you want. Designers Jonathan Klabunde and Lukas Peregrine wrap it all in a striking brutalist look from Black Figure Studios, closer to concrete greys and stark Bauhaus lines than the usual fantasy sparkle.
What makes Politik worth flagging is the reception for a first-time studio. Reviewing it for UK site Punchboard, critic Adam called it "one of the best debut games from a new studio", praising how approachable actions hide real strategic depth. For a genre that usually asks you to wade through a doorstop rulebook before the fun starts, that's a promising sign.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeIf you've got a group that likes to argue over a map for a whole evening, this is one to watch. The Gamefound campaign is live now, and a game this interaction-heavy lives or dies on getting the right people round the table. Line up your table of schemers, or find a local group of them, before it lands.
