Pokemon TCG Pocket, the free mobile app that lets you crack open digital booster packs and build small decks on your phone, is getting its most interesting twist in a while. Its new Paradox Drive mini-set introduces Ancient and Future card types, and for once a phone-game update has a real deckbuilding idea behind it rather than just a fresh batch of cards to chase.

Find events near youThe new wrinkle is simple. Every Paradox card is now tagged as either Ancient or Future, marked with a small icon in the corner of the art. That lets you build a deck around one category and lean into a particular speed or attack style, instead of just bolting your strongest cards together. It's the kind of light archetype-building that gives a small set real legs.
The headliners are the legendary Paradox pair Koraidon and Miraidon, making their TCG Pocket debut as ex cards, joined by ex versions of Flutter Mane and Iron Bundle. As a mini-set rather than a full expansion, Paradox Drive is a smaller drop, which is welcome if you're still filling gaps from the previous Pulsing Aura set before the next big one.
