Pirate adventures and dragon-slaying do not always share a table, but Pirates Dragons Treasure has been mashing the two together since 2022. Now it is back on Kickstarter for a second edition, and it remains a competitive shipbuilding card game where 2 to 6 players race to bring down a dragon before their rivals can.

Start organising for freeEach player picks a captain with a unique ability, then spends the game drawing from a 108-card deck, claiming bounties, recruiting crew and bolting upgrades onto their ship. Once you reckon your vessel is tough enough, you sail out to challenge the dragon tormenting the table. The first captain to put the beast down wins. There are seven dragons of escalating difficulty, and a game runs around 20 minutes, or longer if you take on more of them.
The clever part is the timing. Build too cautiously and a rival sweeps in for the kill and the glory. Charge in underprepared and the dragon makes short work of your crew. Reading the table, and your opponents, matters as much as managing your own ship.

Set up your group for freePirates Dragons Treasure comes from Dark Port Games, and the second-edition campaign cleared its funding goal in 90 minutes. According to Wargamer, the Kickstarter runs until 28 May, with pledges starting around GBP 34 (USD 45) and a GBP 42 (USD 55) tier that adds the Coldspire booster pack of extra dragons, cards and captains.
