If your group loves a dungeon crawl but hates the admin, Paizo has something for you. Pathfinder Quest is a co-operative adventure board game for 1 to 4 players, and crucially it needs no games master. Everyone plays, nobody has to prep, and the game teaches its own rules as you go.

Find events near youPaizo is the studio behind the Pathfinder roleplaying game, the long-running Dungeons & Dragons alternative, so it knows its way around fantasy adventuring. Pathfinder Quest is pitched squarely between two extremes. On one side sit the quick, randomised dungeon-crawlers you can pull off the shelf on a whim; on the other, the sprawling, prep-heavy campaigns that a game like Gloomhaven is famous for. You either build a character from the ground up, choosing ancestry, class and ability cards, or grab a ready-made iconic hero and dive straight in.
The campaign is the draw. There are 12 possible adventures, each running around two hours, strung together across multiple sessions so your choices carry forward. It is the sort of structure that gives a regular group a reason to keep coming back to the same table, without one person shouldering all the reading.
Got a regular group? Create a private community, poll for the best date, vote on games, and let your friends RSVP in one place.
Set up your group for freeThe game funded through a BackerKit campaign, with backers served first and a wider retail release arriving this month. If you have been curious about tabletop adventuring but the idea of running a game for your friends puts you off, this is about as gentle a way in as it gets. Got a group but no crawler yet? It makes a fine anchor for a weekly session, and you can find or start a gaming group to keep the campaign rolling.
