The Everdell critters are leaving the valley behind. Everdell: Emerland, the latest standalone game in the beloved franchise, takes the series west into a vibrant jungle setting filled with ruins, gems, and an entirely new set of mechanics. It arrives at retail in July 2026 from Tycoon Games.
Emerland keeps the worker placement and tableau building that made the original a modern classic (it sits in BGG's top 50 with tens of thousands of ratings), but adds several ideas that set it apart. Cards are now double-sided and can be upgraded during play, giving your engine-building choices a new layer of depth. An archaeologist track hands out bonuses and victory points as players push deeper into the jungle. And 3D ruins sit on the board, brimming with treasures that add a tactile, treasure-hunting twist to the familiar formula.
Emerland is part of Everdell's "Edge of the Map" series, which explores wilder corners of the world beyond the familiar valley. This entry is set in a land known for its artistic culture and abundant natural resources, particularly the valuable gems mined from its underground caverns. The game supports 1-4 players and, like the rest of the series, blends worker placement with engine building in a gorgeous production.
Everdell veterans will appreciate the fresh mechanics, and newcomers can jump straight in. It's a standalone that requires no previous Everdell knowledge, with enough new ideas to stand on its own. Time to rally the group, find a game night near you, and start planning.
