One Piece Card Game players, clear your weekend. The next booster set, The Time of Battle (OP-16), reaches shelves on 12 June, and it drags one of the manga's biggest arcs onto the table: the Paramount War, the all-out clash at Marineford. For once, UK fans are not stuck waiting months to get their hands on it.

Set up your group for freeThe set is built around that war, with six new Leader cards drawn from the characters who fought it: Portgas D. Ace and Monkey D. Luffy, plus Buggy, Marine hero Sengoku, Yamato, and Blackbeard himself, Marshall D. Teach. They pull in factions from across the battle, the Whitebeard Pirates, the Navy, the breakout from Impel Down and the Blackbeard Pirates. Ace and Teach both debut as Secret Rares, and there are lavish Super Alt-Art cards of the three Admirals to chase. In all there are 126 card types to pull from packs at the usual $4.99 a piece.
The bigger story for British players is timing. As TCGplayer notes, the Western release now lands just two weeks behind Japan, a world away from the three-month gap that used to leave the metagame solved before sets even reached UK shelves. Pre-release events ran at local shops the week before launch.
