Moustache Brings Shifting Rules to KOSMOS Trick-Taking

Trick-taking games are having a real run in the hobby right now, and KOSMOS wants a slice of it with one of the sillier pitches going. Moustache is a fast card game for three to six players, and yes, it is about animals sporting magnificent, metallic-sheened moustaches. The grander the moustache on a card, the higher its value.

Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.

What lifts it above a standard trick-taker is that nothing stays put. Teams are reshuffled at random each round, so the partner who carried you through one hand might be the rival trying to sink you in the next. The rules keep mutating too, with reversed colour hierarchies, wild jokers and one-off card effects turning up to scramble whatever plan you had. KOSMOS pitches it as a game you constantly have to adapt to, quick to teach but laced with a streak of controlled chaos.

That makes it a neat fit for the opening or closing stretch of a games night, the slot where you want something loud and quick rather than a brain-burner. Games built on shuffled teams are also a good leveller for groups with a wide skill gap, since nobody holds an edge for long.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

Moustache is part of KOSMOS's autumn 2026 line-up. As with plenty of KOSMOS releases it is confirmed for the German market first, with no English edition announced yet, though a light, largely language-independent card game is exactly the sort of thing that travels well.
