Jo Kelly, co-designer of last year's critically adored Molly House, has launched their solo debut WENDYBUXXX on Kickstarter. It's a card game about lifestyle influencers Frankenstein'd back to life to shill a new "necrocurrency", and it costs £35 plus shipping.
Got a regular group? Create a private community, poll for the best date, vote on games, and let your friends RSVP in one place.
Set up your group for freeThe premise is set on a reality show run by pop-star necromancer Wendy Miasma. Cards carry numerical values for currency and suits for the type of lifestyle content you're producing. Played cards push out positive content; discards hide controversial content in offshore accounts. Keep your follower count balanced so you don't tip into too much controversy or too little, and whoever curates the right audience across lifestyle categories wins.
It's the kind of pitch that only makes sense once you know who's behind it. Kelly co-designed Molly House with Cole Wehrle (Root, Arcs) and Ricky Royal, a hand-management game about queer subculture in 1720s London that hoovered up critical praise on release and an Origins Award nomination. WENDYBUXXX is Kelly's first design without a co-designer, self-published under their Miasma Corp Games label.
Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.
Start organising for freeThe Kickstarter packaging is a treat in itself. Every copy ships in a recycled VHS case, and backers get a digital album by the fictional Wendy Miasma. The campaign is live now, with copies running £35 (about $47) plus shipping.
If Molly House taught us anything, Kelly has a knack for turning unlikely themes into sharp design. WENDYBUXXX looks like the first card game to make wellness influencers, web3 grifts, and reanimated corpses feel like one continuous joke.
