Mind MGMT Designers Reveal Original Game, The Seekers

The studio behind Mind MGMT, one of the best hidden-movement games of recent years, is making an original game of its own. Off the Page Games has launched a new imprint, Off the Page Games Unbound, for titles that are not tied to a comic licence, and its first release is The Seekers.

Off the Page, founded by Jay Cormier in 2019, built its name turning indie comics into clever board games, with the acclaimed Mind MGMT as its calling card. Unbound flips that model. According to board game trade site BoardGameWire, The Seekers is a family-weight hidden-movement game from Cormier and his Mind MGMT co-designer Sen-Foong Lim, aimed at a lighter, more accessible crowd than the studio's earlier fare. "I'm excited to continue converting my favourite comics into cool board games," Cormier said, "but I'm also pumped to bring some other surprises that aren't tied (or bound) to any specific comic." In a neat reversal, the comic now follows the game: Off the Page has hired comic creator Chris Schweizer and illustrator Rocio Ogñenovich to produce a weekly webcomic set in The Seekers' world, with physical issues bundled into the finished product.

The Seekers heads to Kickstarter later this year. If the family-friendly framing lands, it could be the easiest on-ramp yet to a genre Off the Page already knows how to do well. Hidden-movement games shine with a regular group, so it is one to keep an eye on for game night.
