If your group wore out its copy of Everdell, there is a new way back into the woodland. Everdell Emerland is a standalone city-builder that swaps the original's autumn valley for a lush tropical jungle, and it is heading to shops later in 2026 from publisher Tabletop Tycoon.

Start organising for freeEverdell, the 2018 hit from designer James Wilson, became a modern favourite on the strength of its gentle worker-placement and tableau-building: you play forest critters gathering resources and constructing a city across four seasons. Reviewers fell for it hard, with Paste magazine calling it one of the best new games of 2018, and it picked up a Golden Geek nomination for its artwork (that giant pop-up tree did a lot of heavy lifting). Emerland is the third standalone box in the "Edge of the Map" series, sending capybaras, tree frogs and monkeys west to build cities among ancient jungle ruins. The headline new twist is double-sided, upgradable cards you can flip for points, resources or combos, giving the famously approachable game a little more to chew on. It plays 1 to 4, ages 10 up, in around an hour, and works as a fresh starting point rather than an add-on.
Because it is standalone, Emerland is a tidy way to teach Everdell to new players without dragging out every expansion. New box, new table: round up your group and book a learn-to-play night.
