Mantic Games is rolling out new packaging for its TerrainCrate Battlefields line from late May, and it is good news for any wargamer who has ever spent an evening swearing at their own undercoat. The refreshed range bundles pre-assembled, pre-coloured plastic terrain into kits sized to fill a 6ft by 4ft battlefield out of the box. No hobby skills required, and the sets work across any wargame system you fancy.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksThe first kit on the slate is a Fantasy Battlefield Pack with flat-topped hills, ready-painted buildings and printed terrain templates. More sets are following, including a revamped TerrainCrate Dungeons range aimed squarely at RPG groups, both arriving later in 2026. The packaging shake-up is being rolled out across retail throughout the year as Mantic moves its biggest battlefield products under the new banner.
For anyone running club nights, putting on demo tables at UK Games Expo, or just trying to get Kings of War (Mantic's own mass-battle fantasy wargame), Warhammer or a historicals scenario set up on a Tuesday evening, the pitch writes itself. Painting an army is one thing. Painting an army and an entire forest is the kind of side project that leaves a tabletop empty for months. Nottingham-based Mantic has spent the last decade carving out a reputation for value-priced plastic, and TerrainCrate has long been one of its quietest hits.
