itten's Pocket-Sized Cube Games Head to UK Games Expo

If your game-night shelf is groaning under the weight of giant boxes, itten has the antidote. The Tokyo studio is rolling out four new pocket-sized games in its Cube series, and they are making the trip to UK Games Expo in Birmingham, so you can flick, tap and crack your way through them in person.

Run game nights? Backseat Gamer handles RSVPs, waitlists, date polling, and game voting so you can focus on playing.

The Cube series is itten's line of compact, quick-playing games built around skill rather than rules, the sort anyone at the table can pick up in a couple of minutes. The standout of the new batch is Ping Pong Frog!, a two-player duel where you launch frog-shaped ping pong balls across a pond to knock over your opponent's targets before they get yours.

The rest of the line-up keeps things just as hands-on. Candy Tap! (2-5 players) has you tapping a box to release coloured dice cubes and scoring on the results, balancing greed against a steady hand. Pack-Back Robot (2 players, about five minutes a round) is a race to scoot robots around the board and scoop coloured energy cubes onto your tableau. Nice Egg! Deluxe (2-5 players) is a reworked outing where you crack a plastic egg and drop wooden yolks onto targets to collect salad, ham and tomato cards.

The four debut at Tokyo Game Market this month before making their UK appearance at UK Games Expo (29-31 May) and then SPIEL in Essen in October. Dexterity games are the easiest sell at a crowded table: no rulebook standoff, just hand one over and watch people have a go. Heading to UKGE? See who else from your group is going and make a plan to find them on itten's stand.
