The Horrified series, where a team works together to hunt down classic monsters before the town is overrun, is heading into the most famous haunted corner of Dungeons & Dragons. Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons - Ravenloft arrives on 19 July, and this time the monster at the top of the bill is Strahd von Zarovich, the vampire lord of Barovia.

Set up your group for freeRavensburger's new standalone is a cooperative game for one to five players, ages 10 and up, lasting around 50 to 60 minutes. You face four mechanically distinct monsters: Strahd himself, the murderous living doll Carrionette, the witch Baba Lysaga and her walking hut, and the sentient Gulthias Tree. Each has its own puzzle you have to solve to defeat it, so the team is always juggling several threats at once. Five new heroes drawn from D&D classes, the Ranger, Druid, Sorcerer, Paladin and Warlock, give you the tools, and like the other D&D-themed entries it adds a d20 to the usual Horrified kit.
If you have not played one before, Horrified alternates a hero phase, where you move around the board, rescue villagers and gather items, with a monster phase, where the creatures strike back. The original 2019 game became a co-op favourite, scoring 8.5 out of 10 from The Dice Tower, and last year's first D&D version earned a four-star review from Board Game Quest. Ravenloft works on its own but can be combined with the other Horrified D&D and monster sets.
