Master Chief's tabletop war is getting a serious troop surge. Mantic Games, the British studio behind Halo: Flashpoint, has opened pre-orders for a Zeta Halo wave that finally fills out the rank and file on both sides of the fight.

See how it worksFlashpoint is Mantic's officially licensed Halo skirmish game, where small fireteams of Spartans, ODSTs and Banished clash over objectives on a tabletop battlefield. It runs on the same quick, tape-measure-free rules as the studio's Deadzone, and comes from a company better known for its long-running fantasy mass-battle game Kings of War. Until now the rosters leaned heavily on Spartans and elites, so the new releases bring the foot soldiers. The UNSC Marines box adds Marines, corporals, medics, snipers and communications specialists, led by Spartan Tomas Horvath from Halo Infinite, while the Banished Reinforcements box delivers the Grunts and Jackals fans have been asking for, with a Sangheili Enforcer to keep them in line. Both sets are fully plastic and cost £50.
For collectors there is also a limited Spartan Killers box at £59, a trio of MasterCraft resin hunters, Jega 'Rdomnai, Hyperius and Tovarus, billed as the largest MasterCraft characters made for Halo: Flashpoint. A Zeta Halo deluxe gaming mat rounds things out at £30, and two discounted bundles gather everything together for about £134 or £177.

Start organising for freeAlongside the figures comes a free 1.5 rules update. It folds the earlier War Games Expansion content into the core rules, refreshes the rulebook and tweaks balance, so existing players are not left buying a new book to keep up.
