The Gundam Card Game has only been around since last summer, and Bandai is throwing it a birthday party with some serious fan service. The anniversary booster set, Freedom Ascension (GD05), lands on 24 July 2026, and the big reveal is that Mobile Fighter G Gundam joins as a new participating series. Domon Kasshu and the Shining Gundam finally get cards, which is the sort of thing that genuinely comes up at a games night when someone spots the headband.

Find events near youFor the uninitiated, this is Bandai's competitive collectible card game spun out of the Gundam anime franchise, sitting alongside its One Piece and Dragon Ball siblings. Freedom Ascension pulls from G Gundam, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz and Char's Counterattack, so you get Strike Freedom, the Nu Gundam and plenty of pilots across the same set.
Mechanically there is more than nostalgia. The set debuts a new "Link Rare" rarity pairing Units with their Pilots, introduces SP Card EX Resources for the anniversary, and packs a record-high five LR++ cards plus eight popular Pilots as SP versions. That is a lot of chase material crammed into one celebratory release.
Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.
See how it worksOn the practical side, packs carry a $4.99 MSRP with 12 cards each. UK pricing and stock will follow through the usual hobby shops once distributors confirm, so keep an eye on your local. Bandai also teased that two more new series are still to be announced, so G Gundam may not be the last surprise this year.
