Game of Thrones Gets a Trick-Taking Card Game This June

Trick-taking games and political scheming feel like a natural match, and Resurrection Games is leaning into that with Game of Thrones: Masters of Intrigue, a card game that drops players into the power struggles of Westeros. Pre-orders are open now, with a June 15 retail launch at $24.95.

Masters of Intrigue is a quick-playing trick-taking card game for 3-5 players that runs about 15-25 minutes. Each round, players compete to win hands of cards representing the Great Houses of Westeros, but playing the wrong card at the wrong time can hand your opponents an advantage as hidden agendas shift and alliances break. It captures the political manoeuvring of the source material without requiring a four-hour investment, making it a solid candidate for game night openers or a closer between heavier titles.

The Game of Thrones IP has had a mixed history on the tabletop. Fantasy Flight's A Game of Thrones: The Card Game ran for years as a competitive LCG, while the sprawling board game (now in its second edition) remains a fan favourite for large groups willing to commit an entire afternoon. Masters of Intrigue occupies a completely different space, aiming for the accessible, filler end of the spectrum. At that price point and play time, it's an easy impulse buy for fans of the franchise.
