Eldritch Horror Digital Edition Slips Out of Q1 2026

Bad news for anyone who blocked off the Easter weekend to chase Cthulhu around the globe on Steam. Cornerstone Software Development has confirmed that Eldritch Horror: Digital Edition will not hit its original Q1 2026 launch window, with Steam now showing a 2027 release date and the team citing extra time needed to do the tabletop classic justice.

For the uninitiated, Eldritch Horror is the 2013 cooperative game from Fantasy Flight where 1-8 investigators travel the globe trying to solve mysteries before an Ancient One wakes up and ends the world. It sits comfortably in the BoardGameGeek top 100 and remains the most popular 'big box' Arkham Files game, beloved for its sprawling Old World scares and 12-mystery box of expansions. Plenty of UK gamers have a copy gathering dust because solo or two-player setup takes ages.

The digital adaptation is being built by Cornerstone Software, a 40-year-old engineering firm that previously focused on satellite, GPS and telecoms work before pivoting to games. They are working with Asmodee and Fantasy Flight, the original publishers, and the pitch is a rules-as-written translation with fully voiced investigators, an original soundtrack, and hand-drawn 2D artwork rather than a glossy 3D rebuild. The team has been clear in its updates that they would rather slip than ship something half-baked, which after the Frosthaven Digital launch wobbles is probably the right call.

No firm new date yet, but expect a 2027 release window and probably a beta phase before that. In the meantime, if you fancy actually getting the cardboard version to the table, find a co-op gaming group near you and rope in a few investigators. Eldritch Horror plays much better with four humans across an evening than alone with a laptop anyway.
