Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG Heads Past $6.6M Before Friday Close

The Dungeon Crawler Carl RPG campaign is about to wrap up, and the numbers are absurd. Renegade Game Studios' BackerKit for Matt Dinniman's bestselling LitRPG series has now sailed past $6.6 million from over 27,000 pledges, with the campaign closing on Friday 15 May. That is over 26 times its original $250,000 goal, and a fresh chunk of cash since the project blew through $4.5 million in its first 24 hours back in April.

For the uninitiated, Dungeon Crawler Carl is the cult LitRPG series about a man and his service cat Princess Donut dropped into a televised, multi-floor dungeon after Earth gets demolished. The BackerKit campaign covers two games at once: a skill-based tabletop RPG set in the World Dungeon, and Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable, a solo and co-op card-crafting deck-builder. Both are fully licensed adaptations brought to the table by Renegade, the studio behind Power Rangers Heroes of the Grid and the Vampire: The Masquerade 5E line.

Stretch goals have unlocked a life-sized standee of Carl and Donut, a "Crawl Con" event, and Foundry VTT support, which is a notable nod to UK groups who lean hard on virtual tabletops to play across time zones. Renegade has also confirmed that Foundry will be the digital home for the RPG once it lands.

With three days to go, this is the last window to lock in the campaign-exclusive content. Pledges close Friday at 7pm UTC. If you have been waiting for your group to commit to a long campaign in a setting that is part Diablo, part reality TV, this is the moment to drag them into a Discord and find a regular slot before the books actually arrive.
