The Official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is now the most-funded tabletop game in crowdfunding history. Fully funded in just five minutes after launching on 17 March, the two-player TCG from WeirdCo has surpassed the Cosmere RPG's $15,148,874 and kept climbing. At last count, the campaign had crossed $17 million from nearly 25,000 backers, with roughly 11 days still on the clock.
WeirdCo co-founders Elliot Cook and Luohan Wei are relative newcomers to tabletop publishing. The Cyberpunk TCG, licensed from CD Projekt Red, is their debut product. That makes the campaign's trajectory all the more striking: a $100,000 goal cleared in minutes, the previous record (held by Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere RPG since August 2024) overtaken by 31 March, and no plateau in sight.
The game itself is a head-to-head card game set in the Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunners universe. Players draft characters and build decks around factions from Night City, competing across a series of encounters. The IP is doing heavy lifting, but $17 million from 25,000 backers also means a lot of people are betting on the gameplay.
For context, the previous top tabletop campaigns on Kickstarter include Cosmere RPG ($15.1 million), Frosthaven ($13 million), and Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 ($12.4 million). The Cyberpunk TCG has left them all behind. The campaign runs until mid-April, and the pace of backing shows no signs of easing. The bigger question now is fulfilment: delivering a polished TCG to 25,000 backers on a debut campaign is no small feat.
