The gleefully grim video game about running a woodland death cult is now a board game, and backers have flocked to it fast. Cult of the Lamb: The Board Game, from Nottingham studio Paper Fort Games, launched on Kickstarter on 21 July 2026 and roared past its modest £18,950 goal within hours. At the time of writing it sits above £357,000 from more than 1,800 backers, over 18 times what it set out to raise.

Start organising for freeIt is a 1-4 player worker-placement game that leans into the two halves of the video game: you send your followers out to gather resources and build up your cult back home, then head off on the roguelike crusades to clear out dungeons and rival heretics. Paper Fort are not newcomers to this sort of thing, either. The same studio made Terraria: The Board Game, which is shipping to backers now, so they have already turned one beloved indie game into cardboard.
The source material needs little introduction. Massive Monster and publisher Devolver Digital's Cult of the Lamb sold a million copies in its first week back in August 2022, and its mix of cute art and cheerful menace has kept a devoted following ever since.
