Cat Spotting Brings 120 Hand-Drawn Cats to UK Games Expo

If your group's idea of a good time is arguing over who spotted the tabby first, Cat Spotting deserves a place in your bag. London indie Play Monkey Games is bringing the cosy card game to UK Games Expo 2026, where it debuts on stand 2-860 (29 to 31 May) for £16.99.

The premise is exactly what it says on the box. Designed by Jason Tam with artwork by Liezl Ronquillo, the game is built around 120 unique, hand-drawn cats. Across seven game modes you can race opponents to spot felines fastest, team up to find them all cooperatively, or take on a solo challenge. Mix-and-match crowd cards reshuffle which moggies are hiding where, so no two rounds play out the same. It's for two or more players, ages 10 and up, and a game runs in around 15 minutes.

The travel-sized box is the clever part. It's quick to teach, quick to pack, and friendly to newcomers, exactly the kind of filler that earns its place in a meetup bag or a café game night. Play Monkey is taking pre-orders now, either to collect at the show or to have shipped. If you're running a casual session and want something gentle to open with, round up your group and grab a table.
