Blood Rage: Valhalla Is Eric Lang's Standalone Sequel

Ragnarök already ended the world in Blood Rage. Now Eric Lang is asking what happens next. Blood Rage: Valhalla is a standalone sequel to the cult Viking miniatures game, and it is up for pre-order now from Tycoon Games.

The original Blood Rage landed in 2015 and quickly became one of the games that made Eric Lang's name. A 2 to 4 player brawl of card drafting, territory grabs and glorious death, it was funded on Kickstarter in March 2015, pulling in close to 10,000 backers and almost a million dollars. The pitch was simple and irresistible: dying gloriously in battle scores you just as well as winning, so there is never a reason to play it safe.

Valhalla picks up after the end of the world, with your clans fighting on in the halls of the slain. It bumps the count up to 3 to 5 players and keeps the bones of the original: customising your deck around different gods, drafting cards, then spending rage to march, pillage and quest. The figures are sculpted by Studio McVey, so expect a table that looks the part.

At $125 (around £95) it sits firmly in the premium, miniatures-heavy bracket, so this one is for clans who like their game nights with a side of plastic dragons. Release is slated for later in 2026, with pre-orders open now, and UK players will want to keep an eye on their usual shops for a sterling price. If your group has fond, blood-soaked memories of the first game, round up the warband and start clearing some table space.
