The Chapter Two era of Arkham Horror: The Card Game, a soft reset that launched with a refreshed Core Set last month, is about to get a lot more interesting. Five new evergreen investigator decks hit shelves on April 17, each priced at $18.99, and two of them introduce investigators the game has never seen before.
The headline newcomer is Miguel de la Cruz, a Survivor-class rancher making his debut in the Arkham Horror universe. His ability grants a bonus action each round for playing events, and his Elder Sign effect recycles spent Trap and Trick cards back to his hand. He is built to keep fighting when everything goes wrong, very on-brand for a Survivor.
The other newcomer is André Patel, a silver-screen actor who debuted as an ally card in last year's Film Fatale scenario pack. Now promoted to full investigator status as a Rogue, he earns extra actions by crushing skill tests, rewarding bold, aggressive play.
Three returning investigators round out the set. Tommy Muldoon (Guardian) trades his rookie-cop persona from The Dream-Eaters (a 2019 campaign) for a firearms-heavy loadout centred on his signature rifle, Becky. Carolyn Fern switches from Guardian to Seeker, turning her horror-healing talents towards clue discovery. And Marie Lambeau (Mystic) channels her family's dark legacy in a fresh take on the jazz singer fans know from The Circle Undone.
Combined with the five investigators in the new Chapter Two Core Set ($69.99), new players have ten investigators to choose from right out of the gate. After nearly a decade and over 60 unique investigators in Chapter One, this is the cleanest entry point the game has ever offered.
