Arcs, published by Leder Games in 2024, is a trick-taking-meets-area-control game for 2-4 players set in a collapsing galactic empire. Players use a card-driven action system where each round's leader plays a card and everyone else must follow suit or pivot to a weaker action. It is fast, confrontational, and full of table talk, which is exactly what makes it tricky to adapt digitally. Dire Wolf faced a similar challenge with Root Digital, where AI opponents had to replicate the faction-specific strategies that make the physical game tick. By most accounts they pulled it off, and Root Digital holds 4.9 stars on Google Play from over 8,100 ratings. That gives reason for optimism here.

The physical Arcs currently holds an 8.22 rating on BoardGameGeek and swept the 2024 Golden Geek Awards, winning Best Wargame, Most Innovative, and Best Expansion for The Blighted Reach. Arcs Digital was first announced in December 2024, with a tentative Early Access window in the first half of 2026. The initial release will focus on the base game, with additional content and mobile platforms to follow.

The timing lines up nicely with the physical side of things. The Arcs: Beyond the Reach expansion is currently on Kickstarter through Buried Giant, Cole Wehrle's new studio, having already cleared $1.3 million. The original Arcs Kickstarter raised roughly $1.46 million back in 2022, so the franchise continues to draw strong backing. A digital version on Steam could widen the audience further.

No firm release date has been confirmed yet, but these early screenshots are a welcome sign of progress.
