Aeon's End: System Overload Is a Standalone Co-op Box

If your group has a soft spot for Aeon's End, the co-operative deckbuilder built around careful, every-card-counts deck management, there is a fresh way in. Aeon's End: System Overload is a new standalone box now live on Gamefound, and you do not need a shelf of old expansions to play it.

Stop juggling Meetup, WhatsApp, and spreadsheets. One platform for your gaming group's events, RSVPs, and member management.

See how it works

For the uninitiated, Aeon's End is Kevin Riley's much-loved co-op deckbuilder from Indie Boards and Cards, where 1-4 breach mages defend the last underground city from waves of nightmarish nemeses. Its trick is the deck management: you plan around every card you discard rather than trusting a fresh shuffle, while a variable turn order keeps every fight tense. System Overload adds a five-battle expedition and a new mechanic called Magical Intensity, which opens up fresh ways for mages to combine their powers rather than just taking turns blasting the boss.

As a standalone, the box packs in new mages, nemeses, supply cards, friends and foes, and treasures, so it works as a starting point for newcomers or a meaty top-up for veterans. It is the kind of game that rewards a regular table that learns each other's decks and starts pulling off proper combos. The campaign is live on Gamefound now. If you want a steady crew to fight through it with, start or join a community.
