Why We Fight Nearly Sells Out at UK Games Expo 2026

Some games arrive with a marketing budget. Why We Fight arrived at UK Games Expo 2026 with a small stand and walked away nearly sold out. By Sunday afternoon, the team behind it had only a couple of copies left on the shelf, according to Geek Native.

So what is it? Why We Fight is a solo-friendly narrative roleplaying game for one to five players where you run a crew of eco-punks resisting a hedge-fund-backed fascist militia called the White Fist. You work with the Community Alliance to save lives, reclaim nature and build a stateless, hierarchy-free society. It is unashamedly solarpunk: hopeful, green and pointedly political.

The system is built for low friction. There is no games master and no prep, and you can put a crew together in under ten minutes using three six-sided dice, a couple of sheets of paper and a pencil. Mechanically it blends Powered by the Apocalypse with the co-operative, tactical side of Fate, so it leans on fiction and character ideals rather than fiddly stat blocks.

It is the work of Laurie Blake and Rhi Saunders at UK studio Stop Drop and Roll, with artwork by Rob Ingle. The good news for anyone who missed the Expo rush is that it is on sale now, both direct and via BackerKit. The physical-and-PDF Mega Bundle is £40 (down from £44), a digital bundle is £27.50, and the core book on its own is £28. There is also a free playtest kit on itch.io if you want to try before you buy.

If a no-prep, solo-or-group RPG fits your table, round up a crew and give it a weekend.
