Trench Crusade's first proper 2-player starter is finally here. Carcass Front lands at retail on 22 July 2026 priced at GBP 99.99, packing 16 hard plastic miniatures across two ready-to-play 700 Ducat warbands plus a 96-page campaign book. Pre-orders are open now through the official site and UK retailers including Goblin Gaming.

Set up your group for freeDesigner Tuomas Pirinen, the Finnish ex-Games Workshop legend behind Mordheim and Warhammer Fantasy 6th Edition, calls the box "a big risk" for the indie wargame. So far Trench Crusade has built its rabid fanbase on resin minis and hand-painted reveals, and Carcass Front represents its first jump to mass-produced plastic from Polish manufacturer Archon Studio. If it works, it puts the dieselpunk-meets-religious-horror skirmish game on shop shelves alongside Warhammer for the first time.
The two warbands inside are the Procession of the Sacred Affliction (think weeping leper-pilgrims wielding sword and shield, with a Wrath of God brute and a Stigmatic Nun for good measure) and the Heretic Naval Raiders. The campaign book contains The Path to Leviathan, a two-player narrative climaxing in a fight around a sea-beast, plus a map-based campaign for two to eight players that drags whole groups across the Carcass Front in a brawl over arcane secrets and resources.

Start organising for freeTrench Crusade has been one of the most talked-about indie wargames of the last two years, with a Mordheim-style narrative campaign focus and an aesthetic that splits the difference between WW1 trenches and Hieronymus Bosch nightmares. The starter box is likely to fly off shelves at UK Games Expo and beyond. If you fancy running the map campaign with your group, organise a Trench Crusade community on Backseat Gamer.
