Strixhaven Codex Bundle Sells Out, Resells at Twice MSRP

Magic players, if you wanted a Strixhaven Codex Bundle at sticker price you needed to be quick on the keyboard. The premium product for Wizards of the Coast's college-themed return set has sold out at most retailers ahead of its 15 May release, and confirmed TCGPlayer sales are clearing $159-$167 (around £130) against an $89.99 (around £75) RRP. Walmart has already pushed its listing to $199 and TCGPlayer's high market price hit $168, with hopeful resellers asking up to $195.

Secrets of Strixhaven, the in-universe set that landed on 21 April with the Mystical Archive returning and the Prepared mechanic getting strong early reviews, is the first time Magic has gone back to the wizard university block since 2021. The Codex Bundle is the collector showpiece: two Collector Boosters, six Play Boosters, two of six possible borderless foil promo cards, twenty foil basic lands, and the part driving the resale market, a Strixhaven-themed Sol Ring plus a cycle of enemy-colour Talismans illustrated as students from each college. For Commander players that ring alone has been the talk of the deck-builder forums.

UK pricing has been kinder than the US so far, with several specialist shops still listing pre-orders close to MSRP at the time of writing, but stock is moving. If you wanted one for the Sol Ring rather than the speculation, your local game store is still your best shot. UK Magic players who haven't been keeping score have been seeing who's running Friday Night Magic and Commander leagues nearby ahead of release weekend.

Whether the Codex Bundle holds its resale price after the 15 May release date is the open question. Once general booster supply hits shelves and players crack their own copies for the singles, the bottom usually falls out of bundle markets within a fortnight, so anyone tempted to pay scalper prices today could be staring at a £50 loss by mid-June. If you just want to play with the new set, regular Play Boosters are sitting at MSRP at most UK shops.
