Stonemaier Games has confirmed that a small-box, quick-playing Wingspan game is coming in Q3 2026. If you love Wingspan but struggle to get it to the table on busy weeknights or want something you can throw in a bag for a trip, this one is for you.
Jamey Stegmaier describes it as "a more lightweight game, both in terms of complexity and literally, as it's much smaller and should be travel-friendly." It will play in about 30 minutes and uses the iconic artwork from the original game. The full title and detailed mechanics have not been revealed yet, but the goal is to deliver a genuine Wingspan experience in a fraction of the time and table space.
International publishing partners were reportedly very enthusiastic when shown the concept, which is a good sign. Stonemaier positions it as a spinoff rather than a direct sequel, so think of it as an accessible entry point or a complement to the full game rather than a replacement.
This is just one piece of a stacked Stonemaier 2026. The full lineup includes the Wingspan Americas Expansion (out now), a Viticulture expansion with a new 4-season board, Euphoria Essential combining the base game and expansion, the first Finspan expansion featuring sharks, a Scythe vs Expeditions 2-player duelling game, and Smoking Bones, the debut title from Everdell artist Andrew Bosley.
For game night organisers, the lightweight Wingspan is the headline. A 30-minute version of one of the hobby's most popular games means it can slot into any session as an opener, closer, or a quick game while waiting for others to arrive. Keep an eye out for more details as Q3 approaches.
