Magic: The Gathering heads back to wizard school on April 24 with Secrets of Strixhaven, and the Mystical Archive bonus sheet is stacked. Force of Will, the free counterspell that's defined competitive formats for decades (around $90 as of early April 2026), and Vampiric Tutor, which puts any card from your library on top of your deck for just one mana and two life (around $77), are both confirmed with brand-new Strixhaven-flavoured artwork. Every booster pack includes one Mystical Archive card.
The set also delivers five Commander preconstructed decks, one for each of Strixhaven's magical colleges. All five decklists were revealed on April 1, and each is helmed by a returning student from the original 2021 set, now considerably more powerful:
- Witherbloom Pestilence (Dina, Essence Brewer) focuses on aristocrats and life drain
- Lorehold Spirit (Quintorius, History Chaser) brings spirit tribal and graveyard synergy
- Prismari Artistry (Rootha, Mastering the Moment) goes big on spells and elementals
- Quandrix Unlimited (Zimone, Infinite Analyst) builds around +1/+1 counters and X-cost spells
- Silverquill Influence (Killian, Decisive Mentor) plays an aura and goad strategy
Across all five decks, there are 45 new cards alongside deep reprints flavoured to the Strixhaven setting. The original 2021 Strixhaven set was well-received for its college flavour and the first Mystical Archive, which packed iconic instants and sorceries into gorgeous alternate art. This time the reprints are even splashier.
For Commander players, five precons launching simultaneously means plenty of out-of-the-box matchups. For collectors, pulling Mystical Archive Force of Wills from booster packs is going to be hard to resist.
