Straw Hat fans, clear the table. One Piece: Escape from Egghead is a new board game landing this July that drops one to four players into the anime's Egghead arc, with Luffy and Bonney sprinting to get off the island before its bosses catch up.

Start organising for freeIt comes from Kess Entertainment, working with Toei Animation, and it is the studio's third trip into the world of One Piece after the meatier One Piece: Dawn of Liberation. This one is deliberately lighter and quicker. Players guide Luffy and Bonney through a gauntlet of enemies and obstacles, pushing their luck as they try to defeat bosses and escape Egghead Island, with games running around 30 to 60 minutes and a recommended age of 10 and up (ICv2). At $30 (about £24) it is aimed squarely at fans and family tables rather than heavy-strategy shelves.
In the US the game is a Target exclusive, but UK players are not left out. It is already turning up for pre-order at British shops, and at a pick-up-and-play weight it is an easy sell for a One Piece fan who does not normally do board games (The Pop Insider).
