MTG Marvel Cards Land on Arena, Through the Omenpaths Retired

Wizards has finally given in. From 16 June, real Magic: The Gathering Marvel cards will land in MTG Arena instead of the in-universe stand-ins that players have been politely tolerating since the Spider-Man set. Marvel's Spider-Man hits the client on 16 June 2026, followed by Marvel Super Heroes on 23 June, and Wizards confirmed in the announcement on 19 May that every future Marvel set will arrive on Arena in full from now on.

Through the Omenpaths was the awkward workaround that came with Spider-Man, swapping Peter Parker and friends for Magic-themed analogues like Spider Manifestation while keeping the cards mechanically identical. The fix landed with a thud, and Wizards has now scrapped it. Existing Omenpaths cards convert to card styles, so collections do not vanish; if you own one copy of Leyline Weaver, you will automatically get one copy of Spider Manifestation, and the old art becomes an optional alternative skin. Unopened packs will quietly upgrade on first login after 16 June.

Tabletop release follows hot on Arena's heels, with the Magic: The Gathering Marvel Super Heroes prerelease running 19 to 25 June and a full launch on 26 June. Four Commander decks are confirmed in both regular and Collector finishes, including a Fantastic Four-themed deck. Paul Bettany surprised the MagicCon Las Vegas crowd earlier this month to unveil the Mind Stone in borderless Cosmic Foil treatment, the centrepiece collectible for the set.

See how it works

The change matters more than it might sound. Digital is where most Magic actually gets played at this point, and the gap between paper hype and Arena's watered-down version had become a running joke. Real Wolverine, Daredevil and Squirrel Girl on the same screen is the version of this crossover Wizards always seemed to want. Grab your group, sleeve up and book a draft night for late June.
