If you think board gaming conventions are a European and North American thing, Mega XP would like a word. Latin America's biggest board game fair returns to Mexico City's World Trade Centre on April 25-26, and this year's edition is set to be the largest yet with an estimated 22,000 attendees.
That's a staggering growth curve. The convention started with around 4,000 visitors back in 2020, went virtual in 2021 with 3,000 online, bounced back to 5,000 in 2022, and hit 19,000 at its most recent edition. Now it's spreading across 12,000 square metres of exhibition space with over 50 publishers and distributors in attendance.
The headline exclusive this year is the Spanish language premiere of King of Tokyo x Godzilla, IELLO's kaiju-powered reimagining of Richard Garfield's classic dice-chucker. For those who haven't played the original, King of Tokyo is a fast, chaotic game where players roll dice to smash each other as giant monsters battling for control of the city. Fans at Mega XP will get their hands on the Godzilla edition before anyone else in the Spanish-speaking world.
Beyond the main exhibition floor, there's a renovated role-playing area with over 40 open tables, official TCG tournaments for Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon, Disney Lorcana, and Yu-Gi-Oh!, and a showcase for 30 Latin American creators presenting prototypes and works in development.
The convention has become a major gathering point for the region's growing tabletop scene, and the 2026 edition could put Mexico City firmly on the global board gaming calendar.
