Atomic Mass Games is taking Marvel: Crisis Protocol in a completely new direction. Instead of competitive skirmishes, the new Alliances line is a fully cooperative boss-battling board game that plays more like a dungeon crawler with capes. The first box, Night of the Goblin, lands in summer 2026 and sends up to four players swinging through New York as Ultimate Spider-Man, Ghost-Spider, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Black Cat.
The setup is straightforward: Green Goblin is raising an army, and your team needs to fight through multiple encounters before taking on the big boss himself. Each session runs 90-120 minutes, and the miniatures use Atomic Mass's new push-fit assembly, which means no glue required. Just clip them from the sprue, push together, and you're ready to play. The detail level matches what MCP fans expect from Atomic Mass, but the barrier to entry drops considerably when you're not asking newcomers to break out the hobby knife.
MCP has been one of the strongest miniatures games on the market since it launched in 2019, building a loyal tournament scene and a massive catalogue of Marvel characters. Alliances is a smart move to reach players who love the minis and the Marvel theme but prefer co-op to competitive. Two more boxes are already announced: Attack of the Sentinels (X-Men vs. Sentinels, Q1 2027) and The Once and Future Kang (Avengers vs. Kang, Q2 2027).
If you've admired MCP's miniatures from afar but competitive skirmish gaming isn't your thing, Alliances might be the way in.
