Lorcana Attack of the Vine Brings First Pixar Glimmers

Disney Lorcana's Attack of the Vine set lands at retail on 24 July, with prerelease events kicking off a week earlier on 17 July, and it marks the TCG's first big Pixar deep-dive. Ravensburger confirmed the set on 11 May, revealing glimmers (Lorcana's term for its card characters) from three Pixar franchises that hadn't joined the game before: Monsters Inc., Up, and Turning Red. For Lorcana players who already broke in their Wilds Unknown decks (which brought Toy Story, Brave and The Incredibles into the game earlier this month), Attack of the Vine continues Ravensburger's all-in push on the Pixar back catalogue.

The set's premise: a sprawling, invasive vine is sprouting "vineling monsters and leafy duplicates" across the Lorcana realm, and Illumineers are calling on Pixar characters to fight it back. Confirmed Monsters Inc. cards so far include Sulley as "The New Boss", a young Boo as "Energetic Child", and Mike Wazowski as a "Well-Rounded Entertainer." Up and Turning Red character reveals are still being held back, with Ravensburger drip-feeding spoilers between now and prerelease weekend.

Product pricing follows the usual Lorcana structure. Prerelease kits run $39.99 with six boosters, a randomised promo card, dice and a poster. Booster boxes contain 24 packs at $143.76 RRP. The Illumineer's Trove sits at $49.99 and packs eight boosters into a storage box with dice and a lore counter. UK pricing typically settles a few pounds above the US RRPs once Ravensburger's distribution adds VAT and shipping.

Lorcana has steadily carved out its space as the Disney TCG with weight to it, and the Pixar inclusion broadens its appeal beyond the classic-animation crowd that made up the early player base. If you have been on the fence, July is a friendly entry point. Sulley and Boo are about as approachable a starting line-up as a TCG can offer. Find a Lorcana group near you before the set drops.
