Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are joining Upper Deck's Legendary deck-building system. The resulting 500-card core set might be the biggest thing to happen to DC on the tabletop in years. Legendary: A DC Deck-Building Game is designed for 1-5 players by Devin Low, the same designer who created the original Marvel Legendary back in 2012, a game that spawned over a dozen expansions and became one of the most successful deck-builders in the hobby.
The DC edition introduces several fresh mechanics to the Legendary formula. A Transform mechanic lets heroes reveal their secret identities mid-game, and a new Hope and Fear tracker determines when players can activate certain abilities. You'll recruit heroes like Batman, Starfire, and Green Lantern while battling Masterminds including The Joker, Two-Face, and Doctor Poison.
What makes this interesting beyond the IP is how the Legendary system has matured. Over a decade of Marvel expansions, plus licensed crossover sets for Alien, James Bond, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, have given Upper Deck plenty of room to refine the engine. The DC version reportedly builds on those lessons, with tighter card interactions and a stronger narrative thread through each Scheme.
The core set retails for $99.99 and is available for pre-order now, with a retail launch expected in Q2 2026. If you've been waiting for a reason to try the Legendary system, or if your DC collection has been feeling neglected on the shelf, this one's hard to ignore.
